Ar. Wooi Lok Kuang

Wooi Lok Kuang is a corporate member of the Malaysian Institute of Architects, and a practicing architect based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is the principal of Wooi Architect which he established at the end of November 1996. He was born in the northern regions of Malaysia where he spent his childhood among traditional Malay villages. The authentic and sustainable way of life in the villages has greatly influenced his outlook in architecture. He spent ten years in Sydney, Australia and obtained a Bachelor of Architecture in 1989 and subsequently a Master of Architecture in 1990 from the University of New South Wales. He is frequently invited to local universities and colleges as a guest speaker/ critic ,industry advisor and external assessor . He was appointed as an Adjunct Professor at University Putra Malaysia from 2008 to 2015. His works are recognised by Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) and regionally by Architects Regional Council, Asia (ARCASIA) and Asia Interior Design Institute Association (AIDIA) for architectural and design excellence. His designs are published in numerous journals and books locally and internationally, which includes Architecture Malaysia, Architecture Asia, World Architecture (China edition 2011) and Malaysian Timber Council and most recently in 25 Tropical Houses in Singapore and Malaysia (Perriplus 2006) ,New Malaysian House (Perriplus 2007) ,RETHINK (MPH-MTC 2012) and The Sustainable Asian House (Periplus 2013)
